Ecola State Park in Oregon is actually a smaller part of the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park which extends through Oregon to Washington as well. Within the state park alone which wraps around Tillamook Head, it features nine miles of Pacific Coast. Visitors here enjoy not only the views of the ocean itself, but the whale watching, surfing and the history as well.
The history of the area dates back to the winter of 1906 when Captain William Clark and the Corps of Discovery landed on the shore and headed towards the beached whale they had seen.
