Many people complain about something while traveling, or at least, once they get back home. Although we wish that there were not people out there waiting to target their next easy victim, the fact remains, there are. If you are not careful when you travel, you may easily fall victim to even the most obvious of travel scams. In order to avoid this issue and avoiding travel complaints, Tradewinds Vacations would like to offer you some tips and advice before your next vacation.
The Top Three Common Travel Ripoff Complaints
Front Desk Credit Card Ploy – You arrive late and just want to lay down and get some sleep after a long trip. Your phone rings and someone on the other end says they are from the front desk and simply need to clarify that your credit card and your information are correct. They ask if the last 4 digits of your card are something, you look and they are not, so you freely give over your card number to clear up any confusion and just like that, you are the victim of credit card fraud.
How to Avoid – NEVER give your credit card information over the phone as you never know who you have just given it to.
Taxi Cab Scam Complaints – If you are approached by anyone claiming to be a taxi service and you see no credentials, do not get in the car. To avoid putting yourself in danger or wasting money as well, you are much better off to make sure your taxi is one that is official and has the correct registration and driver information displayed prominently.
Street Vendor Rip Offs – Many times in large cities you may find vendors on the street selling wares and trying to pass them off as something they are not. Word to the wise, if it looks to good to be true, it more than likely is just that. Instead of wasting your money, just avoid street vendors no matter where you travel.
Just because you are new to an area does not mean that you have to fall victim to any of the above or other common complaints while you travel. The best advice is to be aware of your surroundings and become an informed traveler before you go in order to make yourself less of a target while you travel. Be smart, remember you common sense and do your part to avoid becoming a victim when you travel. Avoid travel complaints by knowing before you go with Tradewinds Vacations.
